Bron Suchecki: Why WGC's India gold policy won't cut imports much

Dear Friend of GATA and Gold:

The World Gold Council's proposal to the Indian government this week probably won't do much to address the government's main concern about gold, rupees leaving the country to purchase the monetary metal and thereby adding to the government's current account deficit.

That's the analysis today from Perth Mint official Bron Suchecki. Suchecki wonders if the gold council is trying to pull a fast one on the Indian government. But that would require believing that the council really wants to increase demand for metal rather than paper.
