Dear Friend of GATA and Gold:

Sorry to say, the Montreal Resources Investment Conference
was a mere shadow of the Vancouver conference in January,
apparently because of the discouragement of the gold price
since then. The Vancouver conference was crowded, the
Montreal conference almost ghostly, though the caliber of
the speakers was the same. But of course the time to
invest in something is when no one else seems to want it.

GATA's Bill Murphy, Reg Howe, and James Turk participated
in a panel discussion at the conference Sunday morning, in a
presentation Sunday afternoon Turk showed with excellent
charts how the trend in gold is still up and the trend in
general equities is still down, and Murphy drew a good crowd
with his own speech Sunday afternoon. So the word was spread,
and if it was not quite as much as we would have liked, we
got to see some great friends in the industry, strong
believers in gold's great purpose and its future.

There's more to be encouraged about tonight: John Embry
is back. Embry, lately manager of Royal Bank's gold fund,
is now president of Sprott Asset Management in Toronto,
and in a new essay at Kitco he describes his expectations
for the gold price and cites some of his favorite mining
