Craig Hemke at Sprott Money: Bullion bank and central bank collusion

Explanations commonly offered in recent days for the plunge in gold and silver prices are contradicted by market data, the TF Metals Report's Craig Hemke writes today at Sprott Money.

Most likely, Hemke writes, the bullion banks that are agents of the Federal Reserve as primary dealers in U.S. government securities got advance word that the Federal Open Market Committee planned an emergency meeting over last weekend to blast massive amounts of money into the world financial system. Being heavily short gold futures, Hemke continues, the banks knocked the price down dramatically so they might cover before the Fed's actions began spooking investors back into the monetary metal.
