''Midas'' commentary for Sept. 19 posted in clear at Kitco and GoldSeek

Dear Friend of GATA and Gold:

Gold bugs are very good at getting depressed. It's easy
to imagine a day not far into the future when the gold
price will be $600, Newmont shares will be priced at
$140 because of the company's 10 percent dividend, Random
House will be spinning off Little Golden Books and taking
it public because anything with "gold" in its name will
be flying, and the bugs STILL will be asking each other,
"When will we have a good rally in gold?"

Here are what may be some useful tonics.....

* First, next time you hear someone call gold a "dead
asset," send him to the one-year gold chart at Kitco --

http://www.kitco.com/charts/popup/au0365nyb.html

-- where he will find that the gold price has risen by
about 20 percent in the last year. If you're holding
bullion in the basement or at gold depositories like
GoldMoney, you're earning from 16 to 19.5 percent more
there than you're earning on your checking, savings,
and money-market accounts at any bank or brokerage
house. If you want to see "dead assets," look there,
not at gold.

* GATA consultant James Turk, editor of the Freemarket
Gold and Money Report and founder of GoldMoney, today
posted a commentary reviewing the steady rise of the
gold price and urging gold partisans not to be fooled
by the desperate disinformation starting to spout again
from the central banks. Turk's essay is titled
"Meaningful Progress -- with More to Come," and you can
find it at the GoldMoney Internet site:

http://goldmoney.com/

Just click on "Founder's Commentary" in the box at the
top left of the home page.

* And third, you might enjoy the following excerpt
from the post by the pseudonymous "Deadeye" the other
day at the wonderful forum at www.Gold-Eagle.com:

"Yes, we goldbugs have the perfect set of
circumstances to cause gold to rise. The really
ironic thing to me is that Greenspan is now,
in my humble opinion, on our side to let gold
rise. He just hopes that he can control the rise
and keep it slow and steady.

"When one looks at a 3-year gold chart, that is
exactly what one sees. If the gold price rise
continues at that rate, the results will be better
for everyone than having the gold price skyrocketing
out of control.

"The gold price has gone from $254 to $380 in less
than three years, or about 20 percent a year, with
gold stocks averaging up about 60 percent a year.
Could we not satisfy our greed with gold up 20
percent and gold stocks up 60 percent a year for
five to 20 years? After five years at this rate,
gold would be up to $944 and the average gold stock
up 950 percent.

"I hear the answer loud and clear: No, no, no! If
this forum could vote for that kind of slow and
steady profit as opposed to gold going to $1,000 by
Christmas and to $3,000 by the following Christmas,
guess which would win.

"Yes, even though the entire world monetary system
would collapse, there would be revolution with
millions dead, and the world would likely be under
a Dark Ages dictatorship.

"Greed and fear are powerful forces. Think about
that before you all flame me to death.

"P.S: I too probably would vote for $3,000 gold
by next Christmas. Hopefully there is a middle
ground."

Of course that gold is winning, if slowly, is no excuse
for the fraud of the current world financial system and
the rigging of markets, and GATA will not diminish one bit
its efforts to expose all that. But let's try to be
happier warriors in the cause. If we have stumbled over
the secret knowledge of the universe, we have far more
than a sobering burden; we have a sure thing for ourselves,
and a responsibility to share it and put it to good use
for our families and the world.
