Is the problem with the dollar really a problem with paper money itself?

Dear Friend of GATA and Gold:

The sun'll come out
Tomorrow.
Bet your bottom dollar
That tomorrow
There'll be sun.

Yes, you've heard this from GATA before, if without
the musical accompaniment, which can be found here:

http://www.waltm.net/annie.htm

But Thursday's price action in the precious metals
and commodities was too astounding not to be
noticed even by the most establishment-oriented
participants.

The main commodities index, as GATA Chairman
Bill Murphy reported in his nightly commentary at
LeMetropoleCafe.com, closed at a 20-year high.
Yet gold fell AGAIN, and silver was knocked down
sharply too. But then silver turned on a dime and
rocketed up, doing a 45-cent round-trip on the day
and closing with a gain of 22 cents.

That is, the bad guys may have given themselves
away Thursday.

Gold can't be falling when commodities are soaring
unless central banks are intervening against it,
putting their reserves in play again lest an
inflation signal escape and explode the fiction of
the bond markets. And silver's shocking volatility
gave credence to the growing number of reports that
the real stuff is in short supply and that the
squeeze may be on.

Just thinkin' about
Tomorrow
Clears away the cobwebs
And the sorrow
'Til there's none.

The work of the GATA Army very likely is having
an impact here -- not just spreading the word of
the surreptitious manipulation of the precious
metals markets but also putting market regulators
on the spot. Now there will be no denying that they
were urged to act on the painstaking work of Ted
Butler, who has proven the manipulation of the
silver market through unsupportable but
unregulated short positions. Amid the lack of
integrity in the financial markets generally, the
regulators just may be starting to fear the chance
of a little accountability.

If you haven't yet expressed yourself to the metals
market regulators, please review Butler's appeal
and how-to manual here:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/gata/message/1874

All the power and (fiat) money in the world will not
be going quietly. But the evidence of their distress
is approaching proof even for those who have no
interest in the money issue other than making the
quickest score possible. That is, the more
desperate the intervention against the precious
metals gets, the more obvious it becomes, and when
it's completely obvious, it will fail.

That day is coming ... maybe tomorrow.

So:

When I'm stuck in a day
That's gray
And lonely,
I just stick out my chin
And grin
And say
Oh ....

The sun'll come out
Tomorrow,
So ya gotta hang on
'Til tomorrow,
Come what may.

Tomorrow! Tomorrow!
I love ya tomorrow!
You're always
A day
Away!

Maybe not "always" a day away. Maybe "only."
