Dear Friend of GATA and Gold:

GATA clubs are proliferating -- not as fast as fiat money but faster than you can get a straight answer from a central banker.

The next meeting of the GATA club in Melbourne, Australia, will be a fancy lunch at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, in a private upstairs room at the Pier Hotel in Port Melbourne
(http://www.thepier.net.au/framemulti.html [1]). The lunch will be a three-course meal with drinks and will cost about A$70 per person, depending on the final number in attendance. If there are fewer than 10 participants, the lunch may be moved to 380 St. Kilda Road in Melbourne.

The agenda will be for people to meet informally, discuss how they see the future of the world economy, and determine how to proceed with the club.

If you're interested in attending, please contact the Melbourne group's organizer, John McBride, at jmcbride@iinet.net.au [2] by May 21.

Elsewhere in the Southern Hemisphere, GATA sympathizers in Botswana, Africa, plan to get together for lunch on Wednesday, May 9, in Gaborone. The organizer is Andy Brown. If you'd like to attend, please contact him at
abbrown@info.bw [3].

GATA will be holding a reception -- snacks (Western Canadian for "hors d'oeuvres") and cash bar -- at the conclusion of the Vancouver Gold, PGM, and Diamond Investment Conference from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 18, in the Cypress Suite at the Pan Pacific Hotel adjacent to the convention hall at Canada Place. No reservations necessary there. If you're in the neighborhood, stop by and meet GATA Chairman Bill Murphy, GATA board members Ed Steer and Wistar Holt, and your secretary/treasurer ... or just have a drink overlooking beautiful Coal Harbor and Stanley Park!
