WASHINGTON -- Russia is interested in gradual U.S. dollar decline, Russian Vice Premier and Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin said. He participated in the Group of Eight finance minister and central bank head meeting in Washington.

One of the issues on the agenda was the substantial decline of the U.S. dollar rate against other major world currencies.

"Our interest is in that it should be a gradual process, to which business and international calculations will adjust," the Russian vice-premier said.

The dollar decline process was predicted rather long ago, and Russia is not very anxious about it, he noted.
