Dear Friend of GATA and Gold:

Our friend David Bond, editor of the Silver Valley Mining Journal and longtime brilliant observer of the metals markets, reports today in the letter appended here that the journal's Internet site is back in business. Check it out.

We're back!

The Silver Valley Mining Journal (silverminers.com) is finally, finally back on line. Yes, we are back.

We had to perform a complete reconstruction of our site, and there are still some glitches, but we are alive again. I wish to acknowledge and congratulate the hard work of Camilo Velasquez and his associates, and Vitali Zhukov, who worked tirelessly to get us back on line. Camilo has been in charge of this rebuilding process over the past six months, and Vitali has been with us since our inception more than four years ago.

The Web site's database had to be reconstructed entirely from scratch -- we were hacked that thoroughly. We have vacated our Microsoft server and now run on a Linux server which will vastly reduce our exposure to hacks. Again, this necessitated a complete rebuild of our site. I don't know why people feel it necessary to destroy another person's business. It just happens.

Please surf through our site today or over the Thanksgiving weekend, or on company time next week. We'll have Robert Hopper's, David Morgan's, and my feisty rants back up presently. Your comments to me at 999silver@gmail.com [2] about our enhanced site will be greatly appreciated and, when appropriate, fully implemented. We will reclaim our role as the world's premier site for everything silver.

IMHO, our new site is more pleasing aesthetically and functionally.

To our advertisers: Your support in this difficult time is greatly appreciated. We have extended all advertising contracts for the next six months, which was the time we were down, free of charge. Again, please feel free to contact me at any time. It's not just mining that got hurt this year; journalism suffered too.

Thank you for coming back to silverminers.com as your daily source of the best and most current information on silver and the silver markets.

With kindest regards, and our best wishes for a grand Thanksgiving.
