Jim Sinclair''s gold market summary for Thursday, April 1

Submitted by cpowell on Fri, 2004-04-02 03:00 Section: Daily Dispatches

Dear Friend of GATA and Gold:

A couple of weeks ago a friend of mine I'd encouraged to
invest in gold and silver coins in 2001 called me to say
that she needed to raise cash to repay a debt to her
brother, and she wanted to know what those coins were
worth today so that she might consider liquidating them.

So I called the dealer from whom she had bought the
coins -- one of the dealers who support GATA and are
listed at the end of our dispatches -- and was able to
report back to her that each of her coins had
appreciated by more than 40 percent in less than three
years. I asked her if she knew a more secure,
conservative investment that had done nearly as well
in that time, and I discouraged her from selling the
coins.

Whereupon she put the issue to her brother, a
financial business executive heretofore no partisan
of the precious metals, and a bit surprisingly he
agreed. Hold on to the coins, he advised; she could
figure out another way to repay him.

All this is to suggest once more that owning the
precious metals and keeping them at hand or in what
is called allocated storage, as with a gold depository
like GoldMoney.com, is an outstanding way of doing well
while doing good -- that is, while doing one's duty to
the cause of restoring free markets to gold and silver
and fully remonetizing the metals privately to compete
with government-issued currencies.

In this spirit one of GATA's longtime coin and bullion
dealer supporters, Swiss America Trading Corp. of
Phoenix, Arizona, sent along to us today the solicitation
that is appended here about what the firm considers an
especially good opportunity to hold real metal. Identify
yourself as a GATA supporter and Swiss America will have
a special offer for you.

MORGAN SILVER DOLLARS
OFFER GREAT OPPORTUNITY

Swiss America Trading Corp. of Phoenix, Ariz., reports
that the famous Morgan silver dollar, the most widely
traded silver numismatic coin in the United States (Mint
States 64, 65, and 66) are selling for a fraction of
their 1985-1989 prices despite the recent explosion in
the silver price.

It is typical, Swiss America says, for the price of
these coins to lag the bullion price, and thus they may
offer an excellent late opportunity to establish a
position in physical silver.

If you want to add to your silver position or simply get
started holding metal, Morgan dollars are a good value
and provide great leverage to the silver price. Being
numismatic coins -- historic collectibles -- they are
likely to be exempt from any 1934-style attempt by the
U.S. government to confiscate precious metals from the
public amid a formal devaluation of the U.S. dollar.
Of course they are already excellent insurance against
the dollar devaluation in progress.

Swiss America representatives Fred Goldstein and Tim
Murphy will have special offers for potential clients
who identify themselves as GATA supporters. Here's how
to reach them:
