Bid in the fund-raising auction at GATA's Washington conference

Section: Daily Dispatches

12:11a ET Monday, April 7, 2008

Dear Friend of GATA and Gold:

With less than two weeks to our conference, "GATA Goes to Washington -- Anybody Seen Our Gold?," to be held Thursday-Saturday, April 17-19, we have developed an excellent lineup of speakers and presentations. The conference also will offer those who attend a chance to visit with old and new friends.

The conference will include a fund-raising auction on Friday evening, following the conference's keynote address, which will be given by John Embry, chief investment strategist for Sprott Asset Management in Toronto. Our auctioneer will be Joseph Martin of Cambridge House International, who memorably filled that role at GATA's Gold Rush 21 conference in Dawson City, Yukon Territory, in 2005.

Even if you cannot attend the conference, you can participate in the auction, for we will be taking bids for it by e-mail until 4 p.m. ET Thursday, April 17.

Here are the items to be auctioned:

-- Five 1-ounce gold coins, each of them framed, generously donated by Agnico-Eagle Mines Ltd., a longtime GATA supporter. The coins will be auctioned individually.

-- A print of Alain Despert's painting, "GATA," one of the 300 limited-edition prints signed and numbered by the artist when GATA was founded. The painting is shown at our home page at www.GATA.org.

-- A 1-ounce Klondike gold coin, boxed, donated by Mammoth Gold of the Yukon.

To be auctioned exclusively at the conference will be 20 silver Liberty Dollars.

To bid on the gold coins and the GATA print, send an e-mail to your secretary/treasurer at CPowell@gata.org. Include your name, identify the item or items you're bidding on, and list your bids for each. Your bids will be entered at the conference.

You can still register for the conference here:

But if you can't make it, we hope you can find a way to support GATA, as by participating in the auction. There's still a long struggle ahead of us to liberate the precious metals markets, and we can use all the help we can get.

CHRIS POWELL, Secretary/Treasurer
Gold Anti-Trust Action Committee Inc.
